                                 Guangzhou (GZ) is the capital of the Guangdong Province in southern China.  It used to be called Canton.GZ has a population of more then 12 million in habitants, which makes it the third largest city in China after Shanghai and Beijing.Guangzhou on the Pearl River Delta is the inland upper corner of the triangle formed with Hong Kong and Macau both on the sea.

Contrary to other large cities in China, downtown Guangzhou is a relatively quiet place without any annoying permanent horn honking. Apparently there is a local regulation prohibiting this noisy tradition. Guangzhou drivers seem to abide the rules better than in the rest of China.

The food and the language in GZ are still known as "Cantonese". Therefore it is still all right to use this terminology all over the Guangdong provinces where Guangzhou is situated. The Cantonese are a proud and industrious people renown throughout China for their famous cuisine and excellent sense of commerce. The city is famous for foreign trading globally. It is a financial and business. It holds China's largest trade fair, the Canton Fair.
